Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026
Identique is built so that we cannot see the ID numbers you check. Validation runs entirely in your browser, which leaves very little for this policy to cover — this page explains what stays on your device and the small amount of data that does not.
ID numbers never leave your browser
Every validation runs locally in your browser using the open-source idnumbers JavaScript library. There is no server-side validation endpoint: the ID numbers you type are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, never stored, and never logged by us.
The same is true for anything derived from an ID. Details such as a birth date or gender extracted from a valid number are computed on your device and disappear when you close or reload the page.
Bulk files never leave your device
When you use the bulk checker, your file is opened and processed locally by your browser. It is never uploaded to a server, and any results you export are generated on your device.
What we do collect
We collect a small amount of information to operate and improve the site:
Usage analytics
We use Google Analytics to record page views and anonymous usage events. For validations we record only the country code and whether the outcome was valid or invalid — never the ID number itself, and nothing that could reconstruct it.
Contact form
If you send us a message, we receive the name, email address, and message text you submit. Submissions are delivered to us via the EmailJS service and are retained only in our email inbox — we do not store them in any database.
Preferences stored on your device
Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your browser's localStorage, and your language choice is remembered so the site loads in the right language on your next visit. These preferences stay between you and your browser — we do not use them to identify or track you, and you can clear them at any time through your browser's site-data settings.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for two things only: Google Analytics cookies that measure usage, and a single functional cookie that remembers your language preference. We set no advertising cookies and do not share cookie data with third parties. If you block cookies with your browser settings or a content blocker, every validation feature keeps working.
Your rights
Because ID numbers never reach us, there is no validation data for us to access, correct, or delete. For the data we do hold — analytics events and contact messages — you can ask what we have about you, request correction or deletion, and object to further processing, in line with GDPR-style data-protection rights.
To exercise these rights, or to ask anything about this policy, get in touch using the contact form.
